How do we rent a classic car?

We are partnered with Hagerty DriveShare to manage bookings and payments. Give us a call or send us an email if you have any questions.  Click the 'Book' link for the car you'd like to rent, and let us know your dates, times, and locations.  We want to help you create your casual driving experience!

How far in advance should we reserve a vehicle?

Book soon and book often!  Our cars are first come, first serve.  When you have a general plan and date – let us know.

What is your open season?

Drive Maine opens Memorial Day Weekend and closes on October 31st. Off season rentals are available for static displays only and weather permitting. Call for more information. 

Will we be shown the functions of the car prior to our rental?

Absolutely; we will demonstrate everything you need to know to drive our cars safely and efficiently prior to turning over the keys. We will also go over roadside assistance measures. We are always on call for help and assistance throughout your rental.

Are there any other requirements to rent a classic car for self-drive?

For a self-drive experience, drivers must be at least twenty-five years of age and present a valid driver’s license at the time of rental.  Drivers must also have proof of personal private vehicle insurance at the time of rental.

Do all your classic cars have air conditioning (a/c) and heat?

Our Morris Minors are equipped with heat only.

Do you allow smoking in any of your classic cars?

Smoking of any kind is prohibited in all vehicles.

Are pets allowed in the cars?

We all love our animals, however we ask that no pets travel in our cars. They are more than welcome for photo shoots and static events. 

What is the cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens and plans need to change.  We want you to enjoy your casual driving experience without any unnecessary stressors.  You may cancel anytime, but the deposit is non-refundable.  The deposit may be transferred to another date, if the date is available.

What is the daily mileage allowance for self-drive rentals?

Our standard mileage allowance is 150 miles per day for a self-drive rental.  If this does not work for your experience, let us know.  We will try to accommodate

What if we go over the mileage limit or we want to add mileage to our rental package?

We can add miles to your rental for an additional $1.50 per mile.  This must be agreed upon prior driving the additional miles.

Can we rent a self-drive vehicle in January to check out the “snow” spots?

Due to the nature of our vehicles and unpredictable Maine weather, we limit our self-drive rental season from Memorial Day to mid-October.  This ensure the safety of our renters and the longevity of our vehicles. We offer packages for our chauffeured London Austin Cab that include off-season fun.  Check it out!

Molly is a beautiful car and Onslow is a cool truck, can we self drive them?

Currently both Molly and Onslow are not available for self drive and are solely available for chauffeured events, photo shoots, props, and advertising. 

Is there a time minimum for chauffeured events?

The minimum time for chauffeured events is two hours.  Weddings are a minimum of three hours due to the nature of the event.
